I am running for the Tacoma Civil Service Board to restore balance and fairness to the board. The board should never be a rubber stamp for the wishes of the city human resources department. I will work with other members of the board to see to it that all city employees receive fair and equal treatment. All too often the employees and their unions prefer to use arbitration over a hearing by the board. By providing greater balance on the board, employees will resume appeals to the board, which are less costly to the city than arbitration. This board sets the rules concerning city employment and at present is not working to refine those rules. |
